Abstract

This study attempts to improve the quality of life of middle-aged women;through health promotion.

The purposes of this study were to find out the types of health management through the subjective study of health care of middle-aged women and to supply basic data on these health promotion programs.

The study method used was the Q-methodological method. Factor analysis was used by the PC QUANL program for data analysis. According to the results of the study;there are three types of health care. The first type is called the "mental health centered type". The second type is called the "preventive health care type". The third type is called the "daily living management type".

The three types have one tiling in common : the belief that it is good to think positively and it is best to have a balanced diet. There are differences on the emphasis of health care types;but middle-aged women generally thought that in order to live healthy;enough rest must be taken and having a balanced diet is important. This means that middle-aged women managed their health in the areas of hysical; social; mental; and spiritual health.

Properly understanding the various classification of the types of health management and specificity of the types contribute to nursing intervention. This can be used to develop health promotion strategies for middle-aged women;and old-aged women as well.
